The Servants of Hope was established in 2001 to equip church members to go to the lost and hurting through kindness evangelism. While it was not the original purpose of the Servants to focus on a particular group in need of assistance, they have been led by the Lord to prison ministry. The specific emphasis of The Servants of Hope has become "aftercare" service to men who have recently been released. These men have little support in the community and almost no knowledge of the life skills that are needed to function in society.
Led and directed by Reverend Allan Thompson, the immediate goal of The Servants of Hope is to establish Christian life skills training courses for these men. These will be developed in juxtaposition with Ironworks Men's Ministry. Many volunteers, mentors, and prayer warriors from local churches are needed to make this ministry a success.
In addition to prison aftercare, members of The Servants of Hope teach a Bible study group at a local homeless shelter, facilitate an Alcoholics Victorious meeting at a nearby state prison, regularly visit the Federal Medical Center in Springfield, and conduct church services at a local home for the elderly.
