Declare The Word International has established a scholarship ministry for foster children, children of prisoners, and other disadvantaged children in the Southwest Missouri area. The purpose of the ministry is to make educational experiences available to the children that they otherwise would not have.
DTWI's first scholarship has gone to an 11 year old boy in foster care. The money was given to help with the supplies he would need to spend a week at Kanakuk Kamp, perhaps the foremost Christian summer camp in America. Through God's guidance, DTWI was also instrumental in getting the boy enrolled in the camp.
The young man returned from camp on July 7th and his only word to describe his wek was "awesome"! To see his eyes light up when describing his experiences was worth every penny spent and much more! The Chrisitan camp gave him the opportunity to be with peers and Christian role models he otherwise would never have met.
This is just the begining. DTWI also plans to invest scholarship money into the lives of these children through are schools. The children will be selected by the schools. Also, DTWI has been blessed by God to work with Missouri Social Services, Children's Division, in choosing the children God wants to bless.
